Its what the Kona is known for, much like Alpha Romeo's been unreliable or Poor build quality on French cars. A Kona is scaffold grade steel, a bugger to snap the frame mind

Well impressed with that hollowtech crank. I never knew what people were whinging about with "flex" in square taper stuff until now heh.

It takes some time to recalibrate your head from motorbike stuff to pedal bike stuff, since some of the hype for pedals is ACTUALLY TRUE!!11!!1!ONE!1 Differences in flex or stiffness that the human brain can actually perceive, for instance

Heh. I got some wellgo pedals for nowt too, which is nice, they're brill compared to the plastic ones. Your feet actually stick a bit rather than sliding off and the pedal going straight into your shin...

For ultimate performance (or in my case just going to the shops!) then clipless pedals and shoes are amazing. I have been using Time Attacks since 2002 and they are fab, just need a dab of grease on the bearing once or twice a year.

Other options include shimano, Wellgo, Crank Bros... etc. As for shoes I currently have a pair of Sidi and a pair of Diadora. The Sidi's are my faves though.

Too expensive for me, and I'm not so good off road as to keep my feet on the pedals all the time!

Then the clipless will help you keep your feet on the pedals on the bumpy bits and you can set them loose so you can get your feet off in a hurry. It's only when you stop and forget you are clipped in...

You can get some for £30(ish)

£30-40...

Ok. Thinking about it, probably not worth it when you already have some decent flats with pins.

But if you can get some for free...

I got a pair of MTB shoes from Aldi - cost £20, and they are bloody good.

My pedals are cost about 4 times that!
