I wouldnt say its ugly. I think that suspension system works well, I got a coiler frame with ~130mm of travel and it works pretty good on all but the extreme bumpy stuff.
![]() Argyle share the same lowers as the Domains and appear to be very nice, so you probably wont go far wrong with a pair of those! Can get some really mental colours too, not that I can say much with my garish colouring ![]() |

You should see one of these with the long linkage on the rear, pretty horrible, looks like a meccano crane
![]() Definately the Lyriks I'd go for. Or maybe a set of Fox 36 Floats but Lyriks are more in my price range. u-turn coils I guess. But they'd add almost a pound to the bike ![]() ![]() Aargh, it's worse than motorbikes this!

ha ha. I have the privelage of not giving a rats **** about weight. Way I see it is ill get fitter faster
![]() Get some domain U turn's, take you from 110-160mm travel. Do a bit of everything, though they are heavier. Talking for forks, if I feel rich in the future I might go for some Boxxers, not sure. Probably dont need them, just always wanted some triples, and the way I see it Rockshox are way ahead of most for performance and reliability vs cost. Marzocchi these days suck and Fox etc are just too expensive. ![]() Oh and for some odd reason Rockshox (or at least the site) dont know what size sanctions they run... Argyle and Domain all run 35mm Sanctions (im 99% sure, mine are 35mm and they use the same lowers and I think uppers as the Argyle, and they have mine as 32mm sanctions ![]() You ever get down as far as the peaks or Yorkshire? If you do give me a shout! ![]() Last edited by ThEGr33k; 07-06-10 at 09:58 PM. |

Never have yet, we made it just across the border last week to Kielder but that's it. Put it this way, I live in Scotland, why go south?
![]() I thought the Argyle uses Pike lowers? I just like the feel of a lighter bike tbh, the Hemlock pops and hops around so easily, sticking an extra pound right on the front would spoil that (even with its old 2200g Revs vs the new 1700g ones there was a big difference, demonstrated by me looping the thing the first time I rode it with the new forks, while manualling) ![]()

A lot of people like the 36 Talas for a good front end . If you install a longer rocker you get a very sublime rear end for a lazier action . My mate has a Trek Session 77 and the rear on that thing just doesn`t care , it`s soaked up some serious square edged hits and he has a bad back and doesn`t notice half the time .
I prefer a heavier bike for serious gravity duties , feel a damn site more planted , My Orange was in the 40 odd lb range and hammered through most stuff , my On-One 456 gets pinged off a lot of stuff and makes for an interesting ride . Last edited by xXBADGERXx; 07-06-10 at 10:25 PM. |

My bad, ill shut up. Its the Lyric's that share the same lowers... ha ha.
Indeed, the Fox suspensions are very highly rated, but then the price seems to reflect this rather well ![]() ha ha, my Scott apparently weighs about 37lb. My brothers Kona weighs like 42lb. He does real good goin up hills too. Saying that my Kona weighs 34lb, so nope, I own no light bikes. ![]() Last edited by ThEGr33k; 07-06-10 at 10:52 PM. |

![]() I'll definately tap you up if we do make it down your way though, hopefully I can organise something. Though my mates are basically pure chaos and disorganisation and so am I so I've no idea how that'll go...

Alright chaps, thought I'd enter this thread as I'm about to take delivery of a new MTB. I'm getting a Voodoo Bokor from Halfords through my work's C2W scheme (we had to use Halfords, lots of people slate them but they've been fine with me so far!). I got the bike for £599, reduced from £749 in a sale, and I should get it this Friday. I've been going up to Cannock Chase a bit lately, going round the trails on my 15 year old Raleigh Manta Ray, which has been interesting but a lot of fun. Looking forward to getting the new bike and seeing how well I can do. I'll be mainly using the bike at Cannock and hopefully going to get over to Wales in August for a weekend on the trails.
Cheers, Matt |
