That's another classic climb, I think I'll have to buy that book, 'Climbs of the Tour de France'

Cheers Fizz... plenty of positive comments there...

Mav, Me and my brother are hatching a plan to go Col bagging in September. Mont Ventoux is also on the hit list . This could all end very badly...

Cool, although you know the Ventoux is one ******* of a climb. My mate rode the Etape when it was due to finish on the Ventoux, but because of bad weather at the top the Gendarmes had closed the climb.

It would be good to ride to the Simpson memorial, but its got to be a good day to ride up.

Org trip to the mountains ?

Yeah I know it will be a major challenge. I also had some friends do it last year and they go on about the sheer length of it. I have some very hilly routes already planned out for training rides, but the welsh hills are pimples compared to the Alps. (yes I know Ventoux is not in the Alps )

Ha, come to East Anglia then, we don't have any

Well, I'd be up for it as well, depending on work and when you're thinking of going.

Kids will be back at school, so one problem solved.

At least there's plenty of time for training!

Sounds good, tempted by one myself but whilst out on the bike I realised for another 8 months of cycling (it's not so easy in Shnghai!) I may as well stick with the old specialized for now

Looking forward to some pics of it when it arrives.

On the subject of new stuff for my new bike, anyone got any recommendations for a small saddle bag? I especially do NOT want one that has a strap around the seat post.

Needs to carry a spare tube, CO2 inflater, spare CO2 canister, multi-tool, tyre levers, puncture repair kit and keys. (I carry food, phone, money and waterproof in my jersey.)
