But was my first stint in the saddle in a good while. Really enjoyed the cycle - kept off the main roads and stuck to country roads (fair share of potholes though). All going well until I hit a patch of spilt diesel at the entrance to my estate. Down I go and now I have a juicy bit of roadrash up my right leg! Lid did its job though as I bounced it off the ground but the head is just fine. Still ugly, but fine! Bike is scuffed along the handlebar and brake lever but mostly it did okay. Was immaculate before that but whaddya gonna do...hope to be back in the saddle in a few days but not till the oul rash has healed up a bit....
You'll heal, sounds like the bike needs some new bar tape?

I'm praying Friday is semi decent as the weekend looks ****e.

Sigh...

I got taken out by a car last night. Driver didnt see me and turned right into me and flicked me and the bike up over the bonnet of the car. Apparently one of the witness' said it looked like I swan dived over the bonnet and I landed squarely on the top of my head, upside down looking back down the road I had just cycled along. Helmets broken in four seperate places, completely mashed.

Bit bruised and battered but nothing broken, called police, got take to A & E and spent 3 hours strapped to a spinal board.

Bike is ruined, Front wheel is destroyed, Forks are bent back at the crown and suspected Headstock / steerer tube damage when I go and look at it a bit more. Its my mates garage for safe keeping at the mo.

Seen the police about it and the driver admitted liability at the scene, two good witness came forward who saw it happen and the police are prosecuting the driver for driving without due care and attention and the police officer is dropping the insurance details through to me later on so I can claim for bike repairs but I think the frame may well be a right off.

Still here to tell the tale so thats all good.

Sounds nasty Fizz. glad you are in one (relatively) unscathed piece. One hell of an advert for wearing helmets though. Take time to heal up, then get up and at them.

Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery.

On the bright side.... every cloud has a silver lining.

Bit sobering, still getting the odd flash back. Cant believe what the driver did. He was stopped and then right as I was level with his car he turned right into me.

Paramedics told me if I hadnt been wearing my helmet, I'd be a lot worse off. Its why I wear one.

Like Liz said to me last night. Hell of a way to get a new bike

I did tell them that, but apparently people with a head injury dont always make sense ! Again I tried to explain that was normal for me, but they werent having any of it.
