These Maxxis tyres that they mention were looking very good! Obviously the super stickies will stick to anything, but will rub out quicker and cost more. Mud, depends what sort of mud you are looking at, deep stuff then well not much will help outside going for very fat tyres with low PSI but obviously this will make normal running very poor.

Its all a compromise im afraid.

i have been using the high roller DH tires for about hmm 3 years

id say they are utter carp on long distance road, rubbish for street riding, but bliss off road inthe mud or dust

He He those tyres are very clean, they are either brand new or have never seen mud.

For all this urban jumping about stuff (dunno what it's called) surely a trials type tyre rather than a DH/XC tyre would be better? Something super tacky to stick to the streets/stairs/walls etc?

Maxxis High Rollers in Super Tacky for the Winter , will not slip on wet roots or slate , Harder 60a compound for the Summer , a pair of each will last a years worth of hard Welsh riding . For road work and general Urban Assault duties I use the Holy Rollers , these are HARD and I have had the same pair for about 5 years and they did thousands of miles , they are no good for anything even remotely off the beaten track .

Matt, what size are your high rollers? Seems that the super tackies only come in 2.35 and that's probably more than my bike can take - very little clearance for mud with 2.25F/2.2R on it at the moment.

Ignore the sizes on MTB tires mate , best thing to do is offer a set up , 2.35 should be fine , check out the Maxxis Ardent as well , similar tread pattern with a good rolling centre pattern .
