Just to add an update. It took than less than 30 mins for the,"05" Gel sealed battery on my SV to charge on a trickle/tender charger. This tells me,by experience and my electrical/electronic knowledge, the battery is still in good nick.

So as of 4pm 12/02/17 ish today I enabled the Alarm and see what happens over the week

If the battery is a bit sulfated, it will indicate it is charged but will not be. Anywaysup, let's see what your charge is like after a few days. Report the voltage here.

I'm waiting until Saturday to check the voltage or some time soon but it was @ 12.8v when the alarm was initiated.I will try starting the bike on Saturday so it will have a full week.

Update:
I was going to wait but decided to check the battery today. It was at 12.8v when fully charged and today, after 6 full days with the alarm on over 95% of the time and even when not armed still connected and read as 12.1v.

Bike started first time on the button.

Some of the lost current will also be due to me checking some Stop/Tail light stuff with the side lights on now and then as well.

If the bike were in daily or regular use I cannot see a problem with the Alarm being on.As I'm not putting the bike on the road until Early march and the alarm will still being used I'll not charge the battery and see how it goes.

Also at the standard factory sensitivity setting yesterday I slammed my Garage door(Corrugated metal garage) and the alarm went off!

This sensitivity can be changed from the key-fobs but for me this is a plus as I was going to alarm my Garage as well.

R1ffR4ff: Those voltages are too low so either your multimeter's calibration is out or you are not reading direct from the battery terminals.

If the battery is fully charged, after resting to settle the voltage, the voltage is 12.5 = 85% charged, 12.4 =65% charged, 12.3 =50% charged 12.2 =35% charged, 12.1 = drained. If those figures of yours are right, your battery is too low to store without charging. If you store it below 85% the rate of sulfation increases massively and your prize is a knackered battery in the spring.

http://www.mmbalmainauto.com.au/PDF/..._batteries.pdf

here is useful chart showing battery terminal voltage and state of charge

Before taking a voltage reading always let battery sit for at least half an hour (preferably an hour) after taking charger off for the voltage to settle down.

Yes it's a really loud shrill beep.My kitchen is about say 20/25/ foot from the Garage and bike and I can still activate/deactivate from there

I'll keep an eye on it and will put my trickle charger/battery tender back on it.It's a sealed battery so don't know if that makes a difference.

I've just tested my house mains AC voltage with the meter and it reads 237v which is around what I would expect.

Update.

I decided I wanted to know the brand of the battery so have just had it out. It's a Dynavolt Sealed and was fitted 28/05/15 and not year 05 as I first thought I saw.Put battery back in and read 11.9v.Bike started on-the-button with a bit of choke.I've left the bike running for a while as I don't how often the engine has been used since the bike went up for sale.

Have put the battery back on my "Oxford Optimizer"
