Okies.... Been speaking to a man I know in the trade. He says your on a winner with a long "T" bar. Specialist service tool yaddah yaddha. Only way to do it is to fasten all the leg back together and hpe it holds or somehow trap the damper rod. Have you got a reeeaaaaaaly long screwdriver with a broad flat head? Or one you can weld to a length of bar. Bench grinder and a really long bar
to taper the end of to a hex?

Got nothing like that Chris, if i can get the stanction back up as said in previous post, looks like i will have to put back together and take it to a garage.
Out of all the forks i have done, never had this problem before.

I have but not on bikes of this size for many a year. I'll put money on it when you get it all back together and do the few miles to the garage it'll pop out near enough. If your man at the garage has the allen sockets and a long enough extension bar then it won't take much to get it out. I'll be bearing this problem in mind for when i bring the other half's back in the morning. It'll need a good service before I let her out on it. I'm frustrated for you mate honestly These hiccups tunr an hours job into a day without trying

I've recently done my forks and bought the proper tool to put inside the forks.

Didn't need it. Just applied pressure to the assembled fork, pressing down on it as I undid the allen bolt. Could be loctited or maybe corrosion. Try some plus gas stuff to soak it overnight.

Oh the broom handle/bit of wood works, been using it for years without fail, but you do need a fair amount of force on it, I also use a cheap £15 12v impact gun, all works a treat.

Cheers Mark.

I remove the leg, and whilst upside-down I dump a wd-40 like bolt loosning compound into the bolt hole. After 20 minutes I use a variation of the broom handle, except I've glued a strip of rubber to the tip (of the broom) for extra grip and a softer touch.
