Pretty good Green Laners if you ask me . They aren`t up very much on the BHP so if you are gonna go offroad they aren`t as viscious as a 250 2 stroke . If your going to ride it on the road they do a more road biased tyre for it . They also do a DRz400SM which has Supermoto wheels on it which gives you a better choice for hooning around on better rubber . They are a tall bike as well , they don`t look it at first , there are plenty of aftermarket parts for them . I was going to buy a KTM supermoto as my main bike but I`ve decided to get an SV and one of my "Winter Hack" options may be a nicely set up DRZ .

Ive done plenty of research into them, sounds like what Im after, however was just wondering on the price as they seem to be anyones guess on Ebay. Might wait and see if it gets any bids and then go in a bit lower

Price is Ok , my local dealer has a 2001 DRZ400e in and he wants 2950 Quid for it , I told him he was way off the mark with that one but I`d pay around 2 grand for a good one on a 52 plate for example . The one you are looking at is quite low mileage , ask him if it was used offroad at all and how many hours it has done ?

Badger sounds on to it. Rubberduckofdeath brought one not long ago. Also I think Tigersaw was the other that had one recently. Maybe worth a PM to each??

Depends what the usage is for butfor the Buy it Now price I would consider the Yamaha or KTM (personal preference though). My guess it will sell for not more than what its listed for. If he's local ring him, go and see it and throw a little less cash at him... see if he bites. Check if he's selling via Biketrader or somewhere else other than ebay - say you saw it here rather than ebay as he'll be better open to offers.

Aye, I did ask him a load of questions via the Bay but he sent his number and told me to ring him. I keep on thinking about one of these, then think I dont have enough money to run 2 bikes & a car. Hopefully gonna get shot of the car soon though and the bike would be ideal for the short hop to work.

Grant, on another note I notice you have the EXC version. Is that not a little "hardcore" for regular use as in it needs servicing/rebuild quite frequently?

If you are looking at regular work use then yes its a little hardcore for that. Its also quite flighty on the road above 70 although supermoto rims would fix. The EXC400 is probably the better one to go with for road/light lane use. The KTM 400/450 engines are pretty reliable though regular oil and filter changes a must - so high maintenance. Mines for hare & hounds, motox and lanes - weekend fun etc...

i bought tigersaw's DRZ SM last year and can confirm that while it's a little down on power compared to sportsbikes it makes up for it in cheeky fun
