I just find it akward to hold the bike upright and get a decent view of the window, obviously I am doing it wrong

Might take a bit of practice, but then so does riding it!

From it being on the side stand, set it upright using both hands, and then get the feel for when it's balanced (not falling over to either side). Once you have the feel, you can hold it upright with one hand so you can lean down to get a good look at the window. You should still be able to 'feel' the balance of the bike and it will require almost no effort to hold upright.

Alternatively, find a wall to stick a mirror on, or use a mirror on a stick, or get a friend to help!

I use the frame to hold on to, and do everything slowly. Once you get the knack it's a piece of cake .

And I use Mrs Professor as a measuring device (while I myself sit
on the bike holding it straight).

I just get parranoid when holding the bike with one hand (ever since I dropped my XJ when holding it like that) plus I'm a clumsy fecker so holding the bar with one hand and crouching down to look at the window makes me worry.

Btw what does HTH mean?

Default what the filter does

Heres what happens when you dont change your oil and filter.
The filter gets blocked, then the filter bypass opens and allows unfiltered oil to circulate, the tired old burst oil carries wear metals round the system then everything wears out, bang , end of engine.

Im the guy with 26K miles and no oil consumption.
I rev the bike to 9k plus pretty regularly and seldom allow the revs below 3k.It has hit the rev limiter a couple of times. I generally sit with the motor at 7-7.5k when conditions allow. The rap is geared lower than a 650S , this gives a cruising speed around 85mph.
The bike went from North of Scotland to south of Spain and back at 85-100 mph without using any oil.
Ive not done any "tuning " the motor is bog stock, other than iridium plugs.
I buy the best oil I can afford and always have a spare filter sitting on the shelf.
I dont think you have a claim against Suzuki, you ignored the oil change interval. They may be awkward about other warranty issues but in this case I think they are right.
Before i got the Rap 650 I rode a BSA 650, it used loads of oil and ran for 20 years with the oil pressure light flickering at idle. i topped it up every other ride.
Oil pressure lights come on at higher revs when its too late , the motor is over . I beleive their main role is to give some warning if theres no oil at all in the motor or you have a sudden pump failure, they are definetly nothing to do with oil level. You have learned a tough lesson.
Oil is cheaper than engine parts.

The Blue Cow will now have a transplant possibly later this week or early the following week.
Will let you all know how it goes.

I do hope that the above is done within the privacy of your own garage Prof and not on the driveway with children and women passing by!
