oh Northy stop being such a pedant!

Master Blue Sv650s mentioned he tried out a 999. I offered that maybe with the extra ponies available the possibility to be "impressed" was there somewhere?

I made no cross reference to the debonair aristrocrat Scoobs and the 999 power output.

Out of interest what is the BHP output of a 999, I'm under the illusion rightly or wrongly that both the 999S and the 999R make more power than the base 999 ?

Scoobs, they were terms of endearment my firends in case one or two of the lady members are prowling and can note the fact that you are highly regarded by your peers.

Mr.Demolition Derby Blue SV50s.

Well I might have been impressed if some smooth lines might have been taken during your little bimble around Silverstone in amongst the DAS folks.

I know,I know you mentioned that "there are a variety of lines one can take" yes there did appear on occasion to be a number ill advised one's also.

Messing up other people's approaches a la Michael Schumaker, would no doubt have gained you many friends on the day! And picking on those youngsters still wearing their feeder bibs is totally inexcusable.

Near as dammit same as my GSXR then :P I take it those are the crank figures ?

I just wandered if Blue_SV650S had tried the base model 999 and that if he had tried a 999S or 999R his experience might have been different but there isnt much in it is there.

Just out of interest Liz is rather taken with the a 749S in a local dealer not far from us. Whats the BHP of that, ( thats what you ride isnt it ? )

SP Honda is one of the worst road bikes ever. On a nice smooth track they are utterly sublime, but don't be fooled 'cos it's a Honda they are truly dreadful in the real world.

748/749 motors have all felt better than the bigger ones, nicer bikes because of that in fact.

At least it is IAM now, not DAS!!!

To be fair I have no idea what model I rode, lets presume for arguments sake it was the 140hp one (not sure the extra 10hp between models would make for a revelation anyway?).

Bearing in mind amongst other big sports bikes, I had already ridden big twins (aforementioned SP1s) I was using this as a benchmark. Now I think/thought the 999 represents is the pinnacle of sports V-Twins, I went in there expecting the 999 would be something that would pull my arms off with torque/power. And handle like it was on rails. The chassis although a little stiff for my liking, lived up to this, the motor sadly didn’t!!! I am sorry, but, therefore I was disappointed. Perhaps I had built up too much expectations for it to ever live up to?

Conversely I wasn’t expecting anything from the ST3 and Multistrada and was pleasantly surprised, both at the grunt and the track ability, for what are and lets be fair, are NOT sport/track bikes!!!
