Fizz...The 749S has as near as damn 115BHP out of the crate. (I am led to believe that when mine goes for service and a bit of tweeking to suit the new zorst in the next week or so, a genuine 4 to 5 BHP at the crank can be obtained) If Liz enjoys what the SV can do, then she will adore the 749....it simply takes it all on to another level. Handling is sublime and just so rooted to the deck, real easy to correct if you are a bit hot on entering a bend also. It has that great V twin stomp that means you can get on the gas way earlier than you would ever dare if you were riding the power band on an IL4.

I ride regularly with a mixed bunch of bikes and if ridden correctly the 749 can stay with and go by any 600 Supersports which do have more BHP but the real difference only really comes in at ultra top speed.

I'm very tempted by one, especially as you can get a new 749s for less than £7000 at the moment, thats alot of bike for that money. Plus when i sit on it i find it so comfortable, it's the perfect size and hieght for me. Definatly worth a look when the time comes (which won't be long)

Having ridden a 749, all I can say is that it is a wonderful machine to use, and it revs so quickly, you wouldn't think it was a twin either. I'd love one (but my back wouldn't )

I'm an ex-bell end it seems
REcent bikes have included a gixer thou and a tuono, owned for about 3 years. The power is great, and I think everyone should own a litre bike at least once, but they can get dull - having a bike you can rag on the road is why I bought an SV - it's a far more involving ride Overtaking litre bike power ranger heroes on the local twisties is close to the most fun you can have with your clothes on

You haven't ridden the thinking man's litre bike then, the Triumph Daytona 955i. I sold a tuned and tricked Gixer Thou to by mine because the Gixer was way too much for road use.

Err I think you'll find that the bike that is said to be the best "real world" sports bike in recent years is the RR2/RR3 FireBlade... As nice as the 955i is, I wouldn't take two of them for the 'Blade.

Although, that big triple has its virtues, that's for sure...

I am happy with my bellend - but would be happier moving down the CC range rather than further up at this stage, as I dont see the point in going faster in a straight line. What I really do love with the Tuono is the ability to push out of the corners so quick - its something I never experienced with the SV as it never had the same torque from bottom to top. I would imagine the IL4 6/thou would be the same ridden at high revs....?

Ridden every model of Blade and none of them did a thing for me except the original one, which was barking mad. They're just another UJM IL4 as far as I'm concerned.
