why not flat footed? it means my feet are in the right place for changing gear/ braking

I've always ridden that way. I find with the balls of my feet on the pegs I get a better feel for what the bike is doing also I find it easier to grip the tank with my knees and also it helps when I'm shifting my body weight about when I'm cornering.

Round town / built up areas I tend to ride flat footed to cover the gears and rear brake. but once out on to the A and B roads I'll change my position so the balls of feet are on the pegs.

Yep, its no big problem and I'd rather have good feel for what the bikes doing in a set of twisties. Also with your foot up on the pegs like that theres less chance of dragging your toe sliderse etc during enthusiastic cornering

It works better on the SV you can leave it in a particular gear and ride the torque waves.

I realise its not for everybody, but I feel more comfortable riding like that. If what you're doing works for you thats the most important thing.

i may give it a go, keep dragging my toes as of late. (something to do with the weather maybe? ) I had my housemate on yesterday with a broken leg and managed to scrape my feet still :S a bike leant over so much with a pillion carrying huge wooden crutches must have been sight!

Well that's handy! A mate in the states sold his Hawk Gt some time back and had a box of spares in the garage he'd been meaning to ebay. Apparently he has a pair of stock hawk gt clip ons in there and they are now winging their way to me free of charge.

I've nearly completed the installation of the FJ1200 bars on my curvy, just need to get a longer brake hose (Monday).

It does need a reasonable amount of modification to get them on, quite a bit of grinding to get clearance round the top yoke, plus I welded location tabs on to use the bolts into the top yoke, and welded a pad on for the reservoir.

Sitting on the bike they feel nice, about half way between SV and SVS. I'll see how they feel on the road.

While about it I fitted some linear 0.85kg/mm springs from K-Tech in Coalville and greased the head bearings (the bottom bearing was near enough dry!).
