Just because you have an extra 5mm or so depth on the yoke, this will offer no strength to the bolts themselves.
M8 bolts on risers would be strong as anything you can buy aftermaket.
Do you think it would be in their interest to make things look at bit stronger so people dont just drill and tap their own things.
I used to work in a maintenance /engineering role for 9 years so i have experience with metals, destruction testing etc.
You would be amazed how much abuse decent grade small bolts / thin metal can take before destruction.
And I did my apprenticeship in Engineering and for Insurance purposes I would not go altering anything like a yoke unless it was designed for that purpose . If you had such faith in this system of just drilling it and fitting risers , why did you bother spending all that money on an ABM kit if it was this simple ? Give me a Lathe and a Milling machine and I could churn these things out for fun all day long ........ and at the end of the day I would rather buy a kit designed for the purpose . It can be sold on when you return the bike back to standard on resale .

For insurance purposes, fair comment.
Also for resale, fair comment.
But for this being structually inferior, i would have to see a failure before i believed it wasnt technically possible.
I cannot see the difference, my kit when it arrives might convince me otherwise.
The reason i didnt do this before ordering my complete kit is,
a, didnt think of it (doh)
b, not knowing anything about the longer cables / hoses etc i thought it would be easier to buy complete kit.
c, im a lazy git sometimes so probably would never have got round to it.
