Thanks Lozzo, but the GSXR is should do around 45mpg, so 34 miles worth of thrashing is about right. A Suzuki SV should be doing 55mpg. I'm getting 34mpg without the thrashings, which is what's annoying me.

I've just phoned Lloyd Coopers in Watford, and they said they will plug in a Yosh box to correct the fuelling mixture. I'm waiting for them to call me back to see if they can fit an appointment in for me. I'll update everyone once this is done to see if this is what's cause my low mpg.

The Yoshi box is like a permanent ECU reprogramming thing i think, like a power commander. As its so cheap (compared to dyno + power commander) I reckon it might be worth considering. Ive had 75miles out of tank now with no warning light after using redex but not sure if this is too comparable as 50 of that was on the motorway at a reasonable speed officer.

It's kinda the same result as using a power commander, but with loads less adjustability. Good enough for a system and filter anyway. It's not permanent.

If it isn't permanent how does it work, can you roll back to a stock ecu setup?

I got 110 miles out of £11 after putting in a "little" bit of redex (enough for 25 litres of fuel though oops) so I think it can work. I did spend 75 of those miles on the motorway though, which I think is a lot better than tiny 10 minute trips to town.

Anyone with prior experience of Yoshi box got any advice?

AFAIK, bearing in mind I have proper induction system on mine (carbs ), to roll back to stock just put it on the yoshi box again and remap it back to stock.

10p/mile is about my average consumption

Hi there Orpheus, running mine in as well. How many miles did you do before the light came on?

Basically I would be interested in the figures how you came to your MPG if that makes sense.

Good evening.

Actually its better than that, i made a balls-up working that out

160 to the blinking light (4 litres left)- so assuming i did actually fill the tank (17l) thats 13l. I got those figures from the owner's manual, worth a read. Page 1-4 for instance "RIDING APPAREL- Loose, fancy clothing can be uncomfortable and unsafe when riding your motorcycle". There you are-Suzuki SV650- not a bike for nancies.

13 X 0.219969248299 = 2.859600227887 gal

160 / 2.859600227887 = 55.95mpg

IMO using the light to calculate consumption is a bit daft, there's no guarantee when they cut in.

Fill the tank, do some miles, record how much it takes to get it full again and compare this to the trip-meter. From that I figure mine does about 100ml of fuel per mile on average.

Yes that's what I was interested in and have been doing so far (and you can then put that in a calculation you can find on the internet which gives you the MPG), but also wondered how many miles to the light.
