do yourself a favour and get a scottoiler. scottoiler is often copied but never bettered they have had 26 years of development. you can pick them up second hand very cheaply and if there are parts missing scottoiler sell them.

I can report that after several uses in horrible weather, the pipe is exactly where I set it still, the heat shrink has worked really well and still looks very tidy.

I have never used a Scottoiler, but have heard many good things about them. What put me off was the fear that I had to plum it into my bikes systems. When I first started riding my SV, I knew nothing about bike engines really, so it put me off. However, these days I think that I could happily wire one in. However, I just love the simplicity of the Tutoro and find that mine works very well. Both the wife and I have one fitted to our bikes and find them to be excellent. It is another solution to chain oiling dilemma.

actually, i've re-read it a couple of times now. it's pretty helpful in getting a handle on the tutoro auto. actually, one thing i was going to ask - did you end up leaving it mounted to your swingarm, and if you did does it work as expected? seems like a really neat place to hide if from view but still have access, so if it works i might do the same. i used to have my scottoiler under the seat, but i couldn't do a quick visual check on it there so i'd rather have it visible...

to be honest, it wasn't hard to plumb it into my raptor. i didn't really have anything against the scottoiler, but the tutoro just looked like it would be much easier to fit, and to adjust, and the disconnection from the bike's systems was another plus point. the fact it's half the price is also a major factor, though!

i've gone for the tutoro in the end, anyways. i figured if i don't get on with it, i'll sell it on and replace it with a scottoiler, but it was worth a go given the price differential.

Yes, it is still there, I check it every now and again just to make sure it is all tight and safe. So far it works faultlessly and just keeps doing it's job. Which is a bit boring really, I want something that needs to be played with and fiddled with and makes your hands dirty and smell of oil!

sounds perfect for me - i hate maintenance tasks i'd much rather be able to do something once and leave it alone so i can start doing something new and interesting!

thanks for your help!

Finally going to get round to fitting mine at the weekend. My 24mm socket and torque wrench arrived today. Is there anything else I need? I have a paddock stand. Do I need a tub of some form of grease?

yes grease would be good for the spindle. get a can of white spray grease as its more useful as you can use it for the pivot points e.g. brake/clutch leavers, footpeg, gear/change leavers etc.etc when your doing a service.

tip, use a 22mm spanner on the other end of the spindle when your undoing the nut as this helps stopping the OEM adjuster plate from spinning.

yup that will do. when your putting it on the spindle spray it and leave the spindle to the side till the grease dries a bit. try and keep it off the threads.

Bib is there a reason the scottoiler bracket couldn't be mounted the other way around so that it is closer to the sprocket ?
