Gsxr front end

Hey guys,

Im looking into fitting gsxr front forks onto my k5 sv650s. Not sure wot forks would fit and what sort of bits im gonna need. Has anyone on here done that to theres that may be able to point me in the right direction

Get a 600/750 K4-K5 if you can find one. More set up option but don't worry too much about that

Discs

*Radial fork disca > ideally you want many discs off 600(K4-K5), 750(K4K5),
1000(K3-K4). These are 300mm diameter discs

The 320mm above can be made to work with spacers but can be a pain in the butt to mount without marking the wheel.

Calipers
*For the non radial listed above > GSXR600/750 K1-K3 or SV1000 calipers will work.
R*adials> any from 600/750 K4-K5 and GSXR1000 K3-K4

Mudguard
*Non-radial > Any from a GSXR600/750 K1-K3 OR GSXR1000 K1-K2
*Radials> GSXR600/750 K3-K4 OR GSXR1000 K3-K4

Front wheel spindle
*Any from K1 onwards off a 600, 750 or 1000 will work.

Cheapest as Northy said willprobably be a GSXR750 K1-K3 but if you are very lucky a Radial can work ou for not much or even same

When buying if you can get the forks with yokes and spindle it should normally work out quite well money/time wise.
With the yokes it's also good to try and get the adjuster nuts and the top nut. the little bits can add up.

I'm not so good at putting stuff down sometimes so if I've not made too much sense to you let me know and I'll try again.

Ask all the relevant question when buying bits like forks , yokes wheels etc. Not just talking about Ebay either. Plenty off dodgy breakers out there.

Really have a good look at any bits you receive and if in doubt have them checked out ASAP to prevent arguements with regards to returning.

In closing decide what you want to go for ie Radial or Non-radial forks and the just concentrate on look for bits for that. Welcome to PM links of any bits you see which you are not sure about. Let me know what you decide to go for and I'll keep an eye out for you and also guides for prices.

you will need a front wheel from any of the above, but gsx-r 600 2001-2003 and any year SV1000 is identical and also fits.

triples (yokes) from any model will accept forks from any model, but both upper and lower triples must be from the same model and year, due to variance on offset.

forks for normal brakes require 320 mm brake rotors, radial brakes are made for 300 mm rotors but can be spaced out to accept 310 or 320 mm rotors.

clip-ons from any of the above models, get a matching pair, since some models differ from others.
clip-ons from normal brake forks use a locator screw, for the radials they use a locator tab. it's easily modified to fit any model, but nice to know.

Assuming you have a SV650, you need to relocate your speedosensor to either the counter shaft or the rear wheel.
I chose the counter shaft way, which requires a gsx-r speedosensor and speedorotor.

also, a larger displacement master cylinder for the brakes are recommended to really take advantage of the brakes.
any gsx-r master cylinder will fit. I chose the radial version from the gsx-r 600-750 2004-2005

If you rate performance higher than looks, then the preferred parts are gsx-r 750 forks any year and 750 triples 2004-2005.
