I'm writing a whole how-to out for a few people this week who've never brewed a thing. I'll drop you it in a PM when it's done.

what you need
1 demijohn glass or plastic http://www.colchesterhomebrew.co.uk/...-Demijohn.html
1 air lock http://www.colchesterhomebrew.co.uk/...h-Red-Cap.html
1 Bored Bungs for holding airlocks http://www.colchesterhomebrew.co.uk/...g-vessels.html
1 syphon http://www.colchesterhomebrew.co.uk/...igid-tube.html
All Purpose Cleaner/Steriliser http://www.colchesterhomebrew.co.uk/...er-100gms.html
4 1/2 liters of 100% pure apple juice
250g of sugar + some for adding to the bottles
yeast from home brew shop or wilkinsons " i use wine yeast"
and i use a yeast nutrient but you dont have to.
plastic bottles i reuse tesco spring water bottles 500ml
(1) clean everything really well with the Cleaner/Steriliser and rinse well
(2)add sugar, apple juice, yeast nutrient and yeast to demijohn. the yeast might have to be started first just read what its says on the packet.
give it a big stir with the rigid tube which comes with the syphon tube " MAKE SURE ITS BEEN STERILISED"
put the air lock on and it will start fermenting after a while.
i will leave mine for between 4-6 days .
(3) syphon in to sterilised bottles and add 1/2 a tea spoon of sugar to each 500mlbottle put the tops on and leave for 7 days at room temp and then 7 days in the fridge and there ready to drink, the longer you leave them the better and clearer they will get, mine dont last that long to get clear.
the yeast will be left in the bottom of the demijohn just pour in more apple juice and add 250g of sugar and it all starts again .
the main thing is" STERILISE EVEYTHING THAT COMES IN CONTACT WITH THE CIDER"

Or to make it cheaper:
Use a 5l water bottle instead of demijohn
Use household bleach instead of steriliser
Loosely put the cap on instead of using an airlock, and instead of bottling it just tighten the cap at the end.

I don't think a 5l water bottle will handle the pressure TBH.

You'd laugh if you saw how high pressure i've had in the past. I've stretched bottles almost spherical and they haven't burst

And if they do...it's less painful and messy than glass!

I just found five demijohns round my nans house. Theyre a bit dirty... its going to take a bit of scrubbing to get them clean.
Im going to pop to boots in the hope they have some bubblers, bungs and wine yeast.
I love getting an idea and just doing it, i found the dj's within half an hour of reading this thread

You can just use a plastic bag and a rubber band if you can't/aren't bothered (to) get an airlock, and I always use bleach rather than pay for sterilisers. Wilkinsons are the only none-specific shop that stocks all you'll need.

Pour in some gravel or nuts and bolts and shake them around with water/detergent to get any crap out.

I'll give that a try. Will Milton be better than bleach?
