It's there for the tannin - will make the brew more robust.

I knew there was a good reason!

The jam brew is currently in the utility room sink where its cooler, it's really frothed up and came through the airlock over night. My room smelled nice and sweet this morning

How long were peoples potions bubbling away for?
Mine was going like the clappers for the 1st 3 days and has now gone pretty much dormant.
It's been a week in the demijohn, has cleared a fair amount and has a shed load of sediment on the bottom.
Is this the norm or has me mad apple died?

Mine was much the same, I just figured it'd come to its end so primed and bottled. I would've done mine sooner but the crown caps for the bottles hadn't arrived so couldn't.

My mrs's mum gave me a book on wine making. There's a beer recipe in there that says when it slows down to 1-2 bubbles through the airlock in a minute, you should bottle. I don't know if its the same for cider, depends how you like it I guess.

Mine is now on the go.

How long should it take to start bubbling after shoving it all in the DJ? I did mine about 3.5 hours ago and I'm getting a bubble out of the air lock about every 12 seconds. Is that right?

I shoved one bottle in the fridge yesterday, twas very nice. Very strong tasting, quite refreshing and it'd cleared well. Until Izi poured the last bit from the bottle in, she didn't realise there's a reason I'd left it there
My pear is still going strong, the apple and raspberry is just about ready to bottle I think. Looking forward to those

Yes. Just wait till tomorrow. It will take off.

I decided to let mine finish bubbling naturally. It's clearing and the bubbles are slow. I went out riding today, else I'd have gone to Wilkos for another DJ to siphon it into prior to bottling. It smells - alcoholic

This probably also depends on if you prime when bottling or rely on the last part of the fermentation for the fizz.

Yup, gone cloudy and is bubbling like mad now.

So do you siphon it into a clean DJ, then again into bottles? Why not straight into bottles?

I'm going away for a few days later this week, so I can either put it into the bottles on Tuesday evening, 4 days in, or on Friday 7 days in. Which would be best?
