oh...& the more I think about it that Jag we saw was the right:

1. colour
2. type/make
3. location & right time
4. right desc. of driver (um, "white male")

only difference was the incorrect partial no plate...deffo back tomorrow with camera....sorry to hujack your ignition woes thread.....

Well got a call this afternoon that it had been serviced but they hadn't been able to do anything with the ignition, and could I get the spare key to them.

Fortunatly I had it on me, so I left work early, hoping that the spare would work, so proving it to be a dodgy key.

Unfortunatly it didn't.

Now comes the bit that has me vexxed.

They will have to put in a warranty claim and it will take 48 hours to get the parts?

48 hours - for a lockset?????

I can get something delivered from Scotland to London in 17 hours using Parcelforce FFS, based on it being posted by 4:30pm and a guaranteed 9am delivery.

Which to me says the new locks should be in Clapham Friday, with me picking the bike up Friday or Saturday, instead of me being told I might get the bike back Monday.

Good job my folks are down for the weekend and I wouldn't get to play at the weekend anyway.

Another 2 days of the bus and train tho (CG is off the road till I get the chain and sprocket done)

Would have hoped for better than my bike being off the road for a week when its only been on the road for 2.5 weeks - Kate you have even more sympathy from me than before.

David

That's not bad! I have waited much longer for parts. I usually get quoted 24 hours if the part is in stock (with their suppliers) and 3-5 working days if it isn't. It takes time to deal with ordering systems, staff, collection times etc. rather than some guy running down to the post office with your parts as soon as the call comes in!

I think that in this day and age when I can order something online, pay for it and have it within 24 hours from a company that has never heard from me, then a bike dealer, doing thousands of pounds of business from a supplier cant pick up the phone and have the part next day is a bit ridiculous.

I can see the point that it was 5:30 this afternoon before they decided it needed a new lock, and that the order for the part will go in too late to be actioned today, but I think they should be able to contact Suzuki, get clearance for a warranty swap-out and get the part shipped for next day delivery tomorrow.

This appears to be beyond them.

Anyways as said before I probably wont miss her too much (apart from back and forth to work), time to dust off the PSP I think........

48 hours?I dream of only waiting 48 hours.I once waited four months for a part for a certain bike of Italian origin. You could always hot wire it in the meantime.
