right here we go!
first step today was to paint the engine early this morning to allow time for a few coats and drying time in between.
here's a few pictures form before and after

then was preparing the engine mountings etc. ready for the heart to return to it's rightful place!!!
it was an absolute nightmare to manoeuvre into place and to get all the mounting bolts back in place but we got there eventually anyway!
here's some more piccies

oh yeah and the only photo you'll probably ever see me on actually working on my own project, normally manage to keep out of pictures but wife decided she was getting me today obviously!

then decided that while she was doing tea and kids were playing in pool that i'd carry on so decided to just reconnect soem of the wiring up and re run it better round the engine and frame etc. then refitted the exhaust, not the can though as this is waiting for a polish before it goes back on.

hope you all like it, i'm really happy with how it's coming out.
not sure what the plan is for tomorrow but i'll see what i get done and if anything i'll update on here tomorrow evening.

Wow, it looks really really great, black engine looks very tidy against polished frame.. Can't wait to see final thing.. Are you going to polish the exhaust and remove all labels etc?

I think this is great.

What paint did you use in the end?

Stainless bolts at all?

unfortunately i can't remove the labels on the exhaust can as it is a delkevik can and it is imprinted into the metal rather than a surface label although it will only be going back on for now.
in the future i will be purchasing an akrapovic system for it but got to save up the pennies first!!

i ended up going to halfords to see what was available there first and turns out they do a high temerature engine enamel which is really good, surprisingly cos halfords own brand stuff is normally s**t!!
It did already have the stainless bolts on the engine casing etc. which don't need replacing as of yet.
I'll look at little bits like that later on in the project in case i decide to change to coloured bolts or anything like that.
