right then, today's process has been fairly slow but achieved a fair bit!! first a fitted the right side foot peg back on, then thought it would be a good idea to polish the pillion foot peg hanger so i could re-fit the exhaust well 3 hours later i had finished the foot peg dam fiddly bits!!! Anyway managed to re-fit the front brake lever as well so i hope to achive a bit more tomorrow! anyway some pics!!

well that's it for today going to look at some posts now, will update tomorrow evening!

have you decided on colours yet?

The metallic black they use on the BMW (ill dig the code out) is a really good colour to use.

I went through your thread again to see how you're polishing and am particularly interested how you attacked the front of the frame, where it's all a rough crackled finish. Did you have to file it down using those small bits that fit to a driller or used 80 grit compound? Does this 80 grit compound come in a form of a soap bar? I'm guessing you'd need to go over the work twice more in different grits to eliminate the scratches and then finally autosol it.

When I did some polishing by hand I'd file it down with a small fine file to remove the cast marks and imperfections then sandpaper with wet and dry consecutively in finer grades and then autosol. My method takes ages, My friend and I did 52 hours between us on forks alone. Your method seems more professional using mops.
no 80 grit is more than enough to remove it but it does take time.
if you file it it leaves deep scratches and takes a lot more to then get rid of them. so it's best to be patient and stick with the 80 grit then use next grit up and go in opposite direction and this will start to remove the smaller scratches that the 80 grit leaves.
one thing i've learnt is that the more time you spend with the finer grit the better the outcome so always bear this in mind.
sorry i didn't reply to your question earlier but must have missed it.

Evening people, today i have mostly been polishing!! small bits and bobs mainly have a gander at the pics!!

OOOOOOOHHHHHH SHINY!!!

heal plates and hanger again just cause there ace!

Torque bar (SHINY) This was a nightmare to polish because its a real crude finish so took a while to strip back

polished the back plates for the swingarm.

Wasn't happy with the other side pillion footpeg hanger and heal plate so took them off and did them again the above picture is before and the below is after!

i think you will agree that they look better, anyway that's today's progress done.
I would like to ask if anybody has changed the levers and if so where did you get the replacement ones?? As polishing the original ones is not working!
also looking for cheap scooter to add to my bike collection (actually its for getting to work cheaper) anybody had any experiences with any???

I'd be concerned that it decides to melt and reassume its more common appearance as a now 50 year old Robert Patrick.
