Sorry about the thread hijack but you did inspire me lol
not a problem! the kits are really good aren't they?? they really come up quite well problems do occur when you start to polish the centres because of the poor casting! Hopefully going to get the rear one done tomorrow/weekend so i can get it to rolling stage again!!

yup they are i did sand them first thogh from 120-1500 grit so were already smooth so took about 40min per side with 3 mops with grey blue and green compunds cost me £30 for a small kit with 250mm of alu polish

i would say they are not as shiny as i want just yet but i will keep polishing then buy had over the next cople of week just to hopfully add some more shine

this weekend being the last weekend i'm going to do anything with the bike as i'm having to work overtime next weekend so wont have any time, i decided to get it back to it's rolling stage so i could at least clean my workshop out a bit as unbelievably polishing creates a huge amount of dust

as you can see above!!!
1st on the agenda though was to finish polishing the rear wheel which i started yesterday and became sidetracked and started to polish the rear sprocket and carrier.

oh and this was with the help of one of the children

this took up most of saturday along side making the scooter work.
late on saturday i continued with the rear wheel

then proceeded to put the rear wheel back on the bike which ended up being a bit of a pain in the backside to be honest

then took the paddock stand out from under it and hooray!!!
It's under it's own eight again for the first time after however many months of stripping and rebuilding!!!!

anyway then as mentioned before had to take it outside while i swept the workshop and sorted all my tools out and made sure everything was away before anything ends up lost in the dustpan!!
I haven't had chance to give it all a polish over yet so it's very dusty and there's a lot of fingerprints on it at the moment from refitting everything but i will hopefully get chance to do that at some point one evening this week but at least you'll be able to see(i hope) the kind of finish i've gone for!

next job then is to give it a good polish, need to sort out a caliper to replace the front one and then get the fairing sprayed!!!
So nice to be able to move it again on it's own wheels, my baby is getting there

Wow. Them's very shiny wheels!

I do wonder if having the rims (leeeave it!) polished might help with cleaning the brake dust and chain lube of the wheels. The textured finish does allow some nasty grime to bed in... (that and not cleaning the wheels every week!).
