thanks, yes just because I'm a woman and don't have a license doesn't mean I don't like them, plus I quite enjoy messing with taking things apart, used to do it with cars with him!
even helped strip down an entire astra and rover V6 engine, it was a lot of fun!
A lot of women criticise me cos I like doing mans things but at least on here that shouldn't matter considering I'm sure there's a lot of women like me!

they oxidize very quickly if you not careful, tip is to use a hardish car wax on them when you have polished them it still keeps the shine but put a barrier over the bare ally. am doing mine later on but having centre candy blue

I plan on painting my wheels tomorrow, is there anything I should be considerate of other than taking the wheels off and painting? I.e. removal of bearings?

i usually only remove the bearings if i am having them powder coated, just mask them, before you paint them make sure you have no grease on them, good tip wipe them over with panel wipe.

if you are just painting with arosols the masking is fine, take your time to mask them well its all in the prep the painting is just the finishing touch.

like baldric said make sure you use prep wipes they are really good. Also bare in mind that the wheels will need a lot of lacquer to protect them.

cheers

So, I'll have to buy new bearings once I've knocked them out? Haynes says I can't use them again afterwards.

And before when I've added lacquer to a paint job, it completely flucked up the colour and shine of the paint. How do I make sure this wont happen again?

No, I've painted stuff with aerosol cans in metallic/gloss paint, and then the moment I put laqeur on it goes a dull/slightly matt colour.

About the bearings? Do I have to replace them with new ones afterwards?
