truely stunning!
Im interested in knowing if your laquring it also. Autosol obviously requires the coats to be kept up on. You'd never be able to rely on Autosol alone if you ride it regularly surely.

Also mate I gotta ask, has the 80gauge stuff smoothed out the textured areas of the frame? smooth enough to just rub down and powercoat the whole thing?

No autosol isn't enough, you need to coat it with normal polish like turtlewax or mer something like that and just a light coat every time you wash it, also if you are going to ride it regularly i wouldn't recommend this i only use the bike at weekends as i work to many hours during the week and that's only if its totally dry. the best thing you could do is if you want to do this and ride it alot is lacquer it with a high quality gloss to keep the shine. and yes the 80 grit does get the textured stuff down but you will need to follow it by 120 and 300 in different directions to get rid of the scratches however a powdercoated finish is quite thick and would get rid of most of the inperfections in the frame anyway (of which there is loads).

What's great about this is you've spent £51 on a polishing kit and generated a huge thread with lots of interested people and got a stunning bike, not just bought a load of bolt on tat that everyones seen before and wouldn't give a toss about.

Effort and skill is always appreciated.

By the way, heavily pregnant wife cleaning up haha, how did you manage that. My recently dropped one isn't keen on my bike bits in the house

Great job

Well I suppose some people fit upside down forks, others make the stock ones as shiny as USD sliders...

And I half expected you to say "a can of matt black paint will protect that nicely"

been out this morning and just tinkered a bit really!
cleaned up a couple of the plastic bits, the shock absorber and put a few more bits on.
here's pictures of it now.
going back out after a quick ps3 and cuppa break to do some more of the little bits!

should get some more updated pictures on tonight!
