'Adding up and taking away' is proper maths for most of us. We deal in real things not some airy fairy theoretical maths to prove the existance of something or other.

That's quite correct ... 0.999... (which means the 9 recurs to inifinity) is as close to 1 as possible that if you use finite maths they are equal.

Well that's my take on it
