Tim and rictus01 -

Watch this over and over ... it should explain everything ...

http://www.ironmaiden.com/test/lydden_onboard.mpg (27mb)

Tim - Unless you have a battery problem, I'd get the camera out first thing. You never know what you might capture. I am not sure you finding your way round wouldn’t still make for good footage???

Perhaps a first verses last session video would be cool as it would show your improvement??

Knowing how easy it is to come back with no footage, I intend to have mine on from the word go … with the hope that I will get at least one session recorded ok

TSM - Thanks for that, looks like it is set to be a good day weather wise

It's OK , what I haven't picked up the 50 odd times I've been there, I'll probably remember from the other 50 or so, thanks

Blue -

Camcorder battery lasts about 1 1/2 hrs, same for bullet cam, and only got 1 set of batteries for each, so that's about 5-6 track sessions if all goes well and I do no other filming. And I like to settle into it, I'll have enough to think about for the first few sessions without remembering to turn on the camera just before I set out. My main aim of the day is to have fun on track, and possibly get some shots in as well, not the other way round.

Mark - presume the % is meant to be degrees, and not how far I'm meant to be pushing the bike to the edge of its abilities, which will likely be about 60% (even though I'll be thinking that I am right on the edge). I've heard it's a pretty compact track, is it tricky to learn as tracks go (i.e the 'Ring) or should i be in the swing of it by the end of the day?

Cheers,

Tim

Sorry if I offended rictus01 … it was more me kinda saying ‘here you go, no point explaining, watching this vid says it all …’ not me saying you didn’t know your way round …

Tim – I think they have power there (if not in the pits they will in the office), so a recharge over lunch shouldn’t be a problem?! But the choice is yours, like you said, you are primarily there to ride, the footage is a cool side effect. As for the track itself, Lydden is a ‘compact’ track. You will know where it goes after the first lap, but like most tracks ‘perfecting’ it is something else.

It’s a great track from a spectators point of view as where it is a ‘punchbowl’ from certain vantage points you can see pretty much the whole thing. So if you have any freinds or family that want to spectate, then its a good one for them to come too

No offence taken, but if you look the start of the thread is a pic of some of us a few years back going around the track,

Tim- although there are a lot of little fine tuning bit you can do on the track, probably the three that will make the most impact are the speed through the lower hairpin, gear selection on the lefthander and line through the top hairpin.

Like all these types of things, get the line right, then consentrate on your throttle control & braking and speed comes as a consequence, don't worry about lap times to start with (first three laps are warmup anyway), use the first session to get the lines right a corner at a time, next session you can start to stitch them together and so on.

(no power outside, by you could ask in the office)

Cheers Mark.

Ah … didn’t make the connection … but then how would have I known you were in the pic??

Anyhow, Dude I am a bit confused, when you refer to the ‘lower hairpin’ which turn are you talking about?

Did the same thing, and then realised it means an early start....5am CET, or call that 4 am BST (your time). In the process of trying to shift my sleep patterns to accomodate this.

The technology & technical details of how I am going to use to get there are:

1 An alarm clock.
2 An SV
3 A Channel Tunnel

Suggest the above may work for you without no3
