Yes it is a great place. A few years ago it changed my life around.

I can only be a taker when it comes to mechanical metal type knowledge. People look at my bike in the middle of Soho and start to fix bit's of it for me. I live too far away from most people to make cups of tea.

So my contribution is to organise a big ride and party for you all. I can do that and everyone is invited!

Would anyone who has any misgivings about how the site is run like to take a moment to think about why it's so well regarded?

Well, when I first joined this site, I had a tenant who had not paid the rent on my house in Walton on Thames for 8 months, I had to have her evicted and it cost me a lot of money, she also did damage to the property worth about 15k and I didn’t know where to turn.
A team of GM orgers came over for the weekend and helped me clean, remove rubbish, paint, mowed the lawn, tidied up, relaid flooring,
Dirtydog redid the bathroom and generally everything else left over, Stu redid the flooring, Fizzy Fish gave me a bed to stay in overnight at her place.
I DID NOT KNOW ANY OF THESE PEOPLE before this!

Same here
I dont normally get involved in forums, but this place seems to be so friendly I have stayed for quite a while now. I even organised a run out which is unheard of from me. I remember the 1st .org meet I went to at the Stormy Petrel I sat well away from everybody, but because the people are so friendly here, I now try to get involved in some of the things that are going on.
Nice Forum, nice people, nice atmosphere, what more could you ask for?
Long may it continue

Everyone is really friendly and helpful on here. Just as if it was a local forum where everyone knows each other. It's just the lone wolf that isn't nice

Very true, technically I've not owned an SV for about 3 years now!

Ah yes I still remember the electrical issues you were having with your SV when you first got it

My post has nothing to do with taking the bait. Even if I wasn't a moderator I would have posted the same comment.

With my Moderator's hat on, however, I would make the point that it is a sad fact that some people feel it necessary to whinge about the way the site is run.

It's pretty clear from the rest of the posts on this thread that the vast majority of the forums' users are perfectly happy with it, which includes the way it's run, and that only a small minority wish to undermine the good work that is done by those of us who give up our own time, willingly, to ensure that the place remains as friendly and helpful as we have established it is.

In short, if anyone doesn't like it, they don't have to stay.
