Husky couple of q's
1) How do you get the pistons out of the rear ones? 2) Could a piston rubber greased retrospectively, or is it just as easy to pop them and do them? Cracking rebuild answers a few of my questions.

id remove the pads and put a small piece of wood like 5-10mm thick in between the pistons and pump the brake till the pistons are out about 10-15mm then split the calliper and pull the pistons out
and no all ways take the piston out and clean then regrease |

Hi mate-
to get the pistons out depends on how bad they are in the first place-if there seized solid i split the caliper and push them back in to their own brake caliper half, i then fire up the compressor and blow them out(need to be careful though cause they come out at some rate if you go ott )if you don't have a comp you can push them back in, cut a brush shaft to about a foot, wrap a cloth around one end and hammer it into the piston so its solid, then twist it and the piston should come out attached to the shaft-you only need do this with the back half as the other half you'll be able to push it out with a bolt through the hole the brake pipe attaches too. if there not to bad before you take them off pump them out as far as you can before you disconnect the brake system, then its easy. i'd just strip the caliper and do them rather than giving it just a dab with the rubber grease. h. |

u should always keep a spare mate because you'll end up no doing the service regular until something goes wrong and thats when you end up with stuck pins and no caliper-service it and keep it -have a ride out up here and bring your calipers for a service-you only need the parts and you get a decent coffee and a shot of patting the dogs.

I recently serviced my Gixer front calipers and found my track pump was good enough to pop the pistons out. Just needed to use some old lines or the tubing I would use to bleed the brakes, connect it to the track pump and away you go. Admittedly it's a bit more tricky once one piston comes out and you need to cover the holes inside the chamber, however that's where having small children comes in handy....they can either stick their fingers over the holes, or, pump the pump while you cover the holes yourself. Just be careful the piston doesn't shoot out and er...hit them in the face

After pumping one piston out and the other most of the way (spanner down the center), you can lever the last piston out by clamping the body in a vice and putting a similar size socket inside the piston and then levering with rachet from side to side.
