Default Racing rearset - possible group buy

After one of my friends off another forum bought some rearsets from Geckoracing.it, I decided I was going to get a set. I knew Elliott off here was also looking for some, so I enquired to the company if they did discounts for multiple orders.

The bog standard (polished) rearsets are 149EUR, anodised grey 159EUR and black 169EUR.

Turns out they will do discount for the following numbers:-

2-5 units = -10 EUR
6=> units = -20 EUR

Straight away, we'll get a discount of 10 EUR on the basis of Elliott and I buying a set.

So, with racing season nearly on us, I'm offering to coordinate a group buy. Never done one before so off the top of my head, we need to set a date where everyone needs to commit to by, then a cut-off for transferring funds. I guess you could all pay direct to the company themselves, I think they give a further discount for bank transfer, however once we've got a list of who wants what, I can go back for final prices incl. delivery etc. It might even be easier to get them sent out in batches to addresses and then deliver/collect locally.

Rearsets are here, when replying, please state what colour rearsets (R), footrests (F) and levers/pedals (P) you want.

http://www.geckoracing.it/pedane.htm

I'm suggesting Friday 27th April as the cut-off for putting your request in and 30th April for transferring money either to me or the company direct (details to be finalised over which is preferable). I believe they are stock items (I know he has mine and Elliott's in stock), but once we have an idea of final numbers, I'll ask him for lead time.

1. Nobbylad = R - Black, F - Nylon Black, P - Nylon Black
2. Elliott = R - Mirror, F - Ergal (silver), P - Ergal (silver)

om nom nom yummy rearsets

I might be interested in these. So how much lower or higher do they adjust from stock positions?

What's the idea of the nylon pegs? They look slippy

they do look slippy. If you are buying these purely for style should be fine but if you are looking for good grip when leaned over on a track, I would recommend a knurled finish. To be honest, Nylon doesn't seem like a good choice of material for footpegs, there's a reason why 'sliders' are made of slippy stuff

Cheers Mike - the pegs are available in 'Top Grip' style as well which is a knurled finish. I'll probably go for those and spray 'em black if I want them to match the rest of the bike.

They look to be as adjustable as the likes of GB Moto rearsets as they have lots of mounting holes.

With regards to the nylon, I think it's used to not dig in if they touch the ground, however I could be wrong. You can get a standard 'knurled' finish too.

If you are serious, please add your name to the list with the style/colour options you want before 27th April.

Cheers

i think the idea of the "outer" being a hard compound nylon is that they will grind down well. whereas the metal wont!

I will however be going for
1. Model : [SV650]
2. color platforms : [SILVER]
3. color footrest pedals : [TOP GRIP]
4. color pedal levers : [ALU]

BTW we need to order by april 15th to recive that extra 30euro discount

Whatever material these are made of, they'll likely be destroyed if your bike goes down on its side. The idea of rigid pegs (on track bikes) is to protect your leg/foot should the bike go down.

After an off, expect to replace one side. I have a bucket full of damaged rearset parts, very rare that they survive a slide. (Do they sell them in part sets?). The rearset plate seems a strange design choice, its fairly narrow and likely less rigid than other designs I've seen.

Yes all parts are available seperatly.

Guys please note these are not top of the line race rearsets they are as strong as the oem and offer the adjustability of a much more expensive set.

At the end of the day for the money they are ace!

With regards to strength. The lad that sparked are interest of these isn't the smallest of blokes and has done the jump up and down test on them.

np, just providing an objective non-biased view (I'm not looking to buy any) and I've had the need to replace many rear-sets after race crashes.

I do think that smooth, especially smooth nylon, is the wrong choice for footpegs though. I like the way the footpegs increase in diameter towards the outside, that additional taper would be good for grip while leaned over.

They will bend in a crash, if you looking for rearsets for racing these are what you need, cheaper too

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-SV6...item3f122a06af

and they provide parts too.

Racers on a budget have been using them for years
