Default A question for the short people!!!???? (rearsets)

Does anyone on here have after market rearsets such as Gilles?

Only asking as at the moment the standard pegs touch the back of my calves when i put my foot down and if they didn't fold up i would be having trouble... and they do sometimes bruise me anyway.

So would the rearsets be in a completely different place to where they are now? Or should i stick to what i have got?

Rearsets tend to be further up and further back, so it could be ideal for you. Or you could try raising plates, bit cheaper and you'd still have pop-up pegs so it could be the best of both worlds.

The Gilles rearsets are about an inch higher and further back on their lowest position, I never tried any other positions but I guess it would be another 1 - 1 1/2 inches higher and further back.

Expensive way of doing it, though, unless you have a thing for bling.

Jack up plates are probably the way to go.

I actually had a similar thing with the SV when I took it for it's first test ride. After I'd bought it I had about 1 1/2" taken out of the seat - not so much for the height issue, but I actually hated that really thick seat that made me feel like I was perched on top of the bike rather than sitting 'in' it so to speak.

Thing was it also had the side effect of makeing my stance a little wider when putting feet to floor = no problem with the pegs.
Have you got a lowered seat?

I have got Gilles rearsets on Blue (the Blade) but that was because, with one leg shorter than the other, I was having my left knee occasionally rubbing at the fairing. Strange, I'd never noticed it on any other bike... oh what an excuse for a bit of bling eh!
Anyhoo - you may find them just an expensive problem - unless they are well clear of your leg it may be worse as they won't flip out of the way. No give there.
Though personally I find them useful as a pressure point to push against when rolling the bike backwards.

Me too. Though that's offset against the fact that the day after I fitted mine (Valter Moto, becuase they were very cheap) I got the bike completely caught on the edge of the garage door and nearly dropped it about a dozen times- ended up being 5 minutes late for work. "Sorry boss, couldn't get through the door" (I have to take the bike out of the narrow back door, and the bars are actually wider than the gap, loads of fun
