Do you think that even if you are 45 and it is your very first time on a bike you own the road? then it is your own fault if you end up on a tree hanging upside down....common sense is what is missing.....
I think in a lot of European countries you can have a 50cc at 14.

Would you also agree with a maximum 100hp as well then

And speed limiters fitted also I presume.

100bhp is plenty IMO, but I fully support the right to ride a 400bhp turbo bike if you want.

panosm can i have some of what your smoking???
yc theres a reason that didnt get past the planning stage i guess.
but riding for two years is nothing if you spend the last 1year and 9 months of it with your leg in a cast, wouldnt it be more suitable to limit to 33bhp for say 10,000miles, i could been unrestricted within 9 months then

The other side of the coin be me---past my test at 16,went out and bought a Bonnie
which I rode without a crash helmet--survived this long.
Okay less traffic and all that but after I hadn't been riding constantly for a few years and decided to get back into it I bought a 125cc for 3months ,then a 500cc for 6months,650cc[sv] for 2 years and been riding a 1000cc for 5years.
Now been riding for over 40 years
,
Perhaps a bit wiser approach easing myself back in thats why I am in favour of the 33bhp restriction. It takes a fair while to nurture and hone your biking skills and although a pain in the butt if your young it may just keep you alive to enjoy it for a long time

i dont mind the 33bhp restriction i think its a good idea for new riders to get used to a bike before they can jump on any bike but its just stupid how once your over 21 and sit your test you can get on what you like and don't have to do the restriction period
it should be for everyone or no one imo.
and the law/gov need to lay down some proper legislation that maybe does include a legal recognised document that can be provided and that gives the 33bhp user a clear understanding of whats required.

The biggest joke is the fact that pottering around town at 28mph is exactly the same whether you're on a fizzy or a fireblade!
