At that speed, wind resistance is the main power drain by far for a moving object, I'd wager that a 100 kg or a 175kg bike with the same power and aerodynamics would do comparable speed. Acceleration would be very different of course.

Sure there is no legal requirement to have any kind of label on the bike, although you are supposed to have a certificate of fitment of a restrictor. I am fairly well informed about this so that is my considered opinion. I think they (old bill) can confiscate your vehicle if you aren't insured so maybe that's the reason they've used, definately get some legal advice!

Wierdfish, you are misinformed. There is no requirement for any certificate. Please tell who ever told you so to stop talking carp.
Let me guess it was FI international that told you their sales claptrap and you fell for it. Can you please quote me just one paragraph of the road traffic act or other legislation that requires the rider to be able to produce a certificate of restriction? (Hint, don't bother because it isn't there)

Wierdfish, sorry don't want to sound like I am jumping down your throat, Welcome to the forum. Pull up a stool and chew the cud a while. We do try to be informative. Opinions matter. It is just this particular issue has gone on far too long as a result of plod in-particular not knowing the law.

The unreliability of 33bhp certificates generally as proof of power restriction was highlighted by an eBay sale offering them for any machine without inspection for £18. The ad stated: ‘Have you lost/misplaced your 33BHP restriction certificate? No problem. We will supply you with another. All we need is the colour, reg number, chassis number, engine number and exact make/model of your bike.’
Warning! Who are you giving your details to? Is this enough to get a replacement for a "lost" V5? Sounds fishy... |
