It was efi, my only problems with running rich was that the tps went, but that could happen anytime, once it was replaced it was fine again.

I believe they are specified slightly higher than 33bhp (40bhp), but I read of someone online who rode for 2 years no prob. becuase he was adimant that it made less than 33bhp on the dyno at the wheel, which it probely did.

You won't need any certificate to carry, but at a push you could produce the dyno printout to show the coppers - that's got to be worth 100 times more than any certificate to anyone.

With a 1979 Z500, I think it might just about scrape 33 bhp as standard anyway, if you're lucky. They weren't quick when they were new, and they certainly haven't got any better over the last 31 years. You may be wasting time even trying to make a throttle stop, so just stick it on a dyno and see what the bhp is as it stands now.
Aye, it may well make 33bhp or less on a dyno. The issue is it is specified as 50bhp, I don't suppose this matters tho, as all the law says is it must make <33bhp? I guess a dyno printout would suffice as proof. I do have to tell my insurers wheter it has been 33bhp restricted or not when taking out the policy, but if it makes less than this, I guess it don't matter.

Cheers

According to Google a DRZ SM weighs in at 134kg and makes 40bhp. To qualify to be ridden by a new rider the motor would have to be restricted to 28.7bhp...... Perhaps I ought to make a name for myself by finding one to seize and dyno....and weigh!

But what is the accepted weight measurement, is it dry weight, wet weight or weight inc. rider?

Mr Herring, you are making mischief. You are already adding additional parameters into the equation. When the professionals are saying you (certain police officers or their command structures) don't know how to measure power in the first place.

Now you add an extra dimension and I guess nobody knows how to measure that either.
