Yes but there is no requirement to carry id in this country, so why did the copper threaten to kidnap me and incarcerate me at the local police station for daring to ride my bike without id?

Because you're you....or possibly because you might not have been?

However, as has been said on here many times too, not all of us would take a certificate at face value as they can be easily purchased from ebay and the likes.

It's a catch 22 really.
I'd be more suspicious of someone with a certificate!

What, thinking that because the person is carrying a certificate they wont have the retriction and hope the officer believes them?
Surely it shouldnt matter whether they have the certificate with them or not as its down to the officer to deem whether they believe its restricted based on the situation. (like if the biker was pulled doing 130mph then its obvious it isnt with or without a certificate.)

I didn't say if someone had a certificate on them during a routine roadside check I'd take their bike straight away I just mean it would generally make me more suspicious. 1) you don't need it why would you have it? 2) why would you carry it about with you?
