Isn't it best to write "copy" across a copied tax disc, then it isn't a forgery, you're simply "failing to display" technically which I think is a lesser offence and probably easily got around providing you have the original with you somewhere?

Personally I pretty much share your view Ralph as it's a fairly logical one and makes a lot of sense, and I would venture most coppers would concur. If on the other hand you were to bump into one that didn't then my opinion would be of no use to you whatsoever!

Indeed. I couldn't agree more. Who is going to go first? Your circumstance as an officer of the law can only be improved by good behaviour all round - invoking the law due to a dislike of someone's attitude, (however bad), is hardly doing that. Even the suggestion that it happens is debilitating to ebbing, fragile confidence in the police that seems all too common.

Hi All. Just joined & read this all the way through. It really beggars belief. Well done RH. I cannot imagine how I would have delt with this as a teenager (sadly those days have gone).

What confidence in the police?

If something kicks off to put your person at risk, the police are the second enemy.
If you're on the road and having fun the police are the main enemy, but that's fair game.
