If I lost 32lb I'd still be a fat bloke... Best of luck with recovery matey boy, I'll be a regular botherer while you're off so make sure you get plenty of shotgun shells in before the op!

Time for another role reversal - I'll be wearing a groove in your sofa again!

Chin up. There must have been some gain for all that pain.

And I'll be popping round for some sticky toffee puddings. Or at least a cuppa.

I'll have everything crossed for you.

The time draws near, as I face a rather large event in my life the outcome of which is far from certain, I return to a time a year ago where I’ll be stuck at home without mobility.

Having already done this once, I know the importance of the fantastic people who visited me and kept my spirits up when nothing else seemed able to.

I know this may sound self centered but prolonged periods without any reason to “pull yourself up” (so to speak) are really depressing and I want to avoid that if possible, also although large numbers at once are nice it can be a bit much for me to handle.

Jamie has started this thread, just really so thoughs wishing to visit can see when to come and spread them out, I’m looking at perhaps 10-12 weeks after the OP on the 11th, and then a further 8 weeks after the next Op or so (but that’s all depended how the first lot goes), following all that comes the long slog of learning to walk again and assessing the possibility of riding and how/what I can get back on to, that’s all a long way off for me at the moment, a lot to go through before then.

as said I know the value of good friends at times like these and am fortunate to be well endowed with plenty.

Cheers Mark.

Quick update.. just spoke to mark.. he still has a local on the knee so it's not causing him any grief right now. He is just waiting to speak with the surgen and got off the phone with me to speak with physio so hopefully it all went well. Mark is hoping to be out tonight so fingers crossed for him.

Cheers Anna, keep us posted if Mark's not able to would you? Like, I'm sure you would anyway, but still.

Back a little earlier this evening, got out as soon as I could, although they had me on a sliding scale (took over diabetic control) and should have had me in longer I spoke to my consultant and he agreed I could come home as I'd not used the morphin throughout the night.

they done the bone graphed and replaced the PCL, which was a little confussing because I thought they were doing the reconstruction on the ACL, but Hey whatever, he said it appeared to go well, just have to wait and see, got to have the wounds examined in a couple of days by the practise nurse as the hospital is in the middle of an infection outbreak (being diabetic opens me to a higher risk), then back to have the near hundred staples removed christmas eve. also got an appointment to see the consultant in a couple of weeks as well to see how it's going.

It hurts, local wore off sometime ago,, got some pretty cool scars here, leg is in a fixed straight brace and not a cast, so that's good, although I'm not allowed to bend or stand on it at present, but it feels OK.

Had a bit of a weird dream, though I had woken up screaming in pain, asked one of the nurses, and apparently I did, in recovery, which is why they gave me a local in the leg. could have only been a moment or two, funny that.

probably be a bit rough for a few days now, but expecting that, strangely gave me nothing more that co-codamal, which doesn't work on me, will try my GP for some more tramadol, if not got plenty of scotch .

Cheers Mark.
