OUCH!!!!!!!!

First physio today walk to the hospital (1.6 miles), spent an hour in the company of a young girl half my age with the ability to find the bit that hurts most and have me work it .

It seems I'd developed a rather protective walking method and forgotten how to walk properly, she told me if I work at it I may even end up without a limp , but that's a way off.

some real pain and a great deal of effort & concentration later I was finished.

I walked back home, but trying my best to do it properly, took me alot longer and was alot more painful ( I can feel muscles I haven't been using up until now) but hopefully it's all going the right way, got some home work to, all seems simple enough, but once again it targets just that spot which hurts.

Back next week, she's just checking on me I'm sure

Cheers Mark.

That's a bugger ain't it. Natural human protection of what causes you pain. You think your doing the right thing but actually your mind is telling you to learn something again only to do it the way that it makes it less painful.

Jo has had the same for her ankle and I had the same for my pelvis. I didn't listen though and as a result I suffer when trying to do things I used to be able to do.

Cu-dos to you for sticking to it though and doing as your told. Must have come as a bit of a shock though when you thought you had it nailed. If anyone is going to get it done, your the man.

I'll tell you what, yesterdays visit to the physio might well have got me walking more "properly" but the dam knee has had me up all bl**dy night, if it wasn't for Emma saying it was right, I'd swear I was doing harm to the thing

I'll try some swimming again hope that helps, might need some of those painkillers again if I can't sleep tonight.

Cheers Mark.

I was explaining a theory of mine to my Physio - that they are closely related to Dentists, are all brought up together in a special secret breeding centre and conditioned to be sadists...

... she then smiled and told me that her sister is a dentist!

Me: Embarassed, nah.
Prooved right, yeah.

I had a similar thing after my first session of ultrasound (which at the time always feels so 'fake' - like it's a placaebo and not actually doing anything ), cause me agony in my fourth toe for days afterwards...

... turned out that to compensate I'd been doing what weight bearing I could in a manner that had caused one of the joints in my foot to collapse - so when I started to utilise it properly it put pressure durectly on a now exposed nerve.

So she did it again.

Well I can't believe it's only six days since my last update, seems a world away.

Been working really hard and I'm happy with the progress I've made, physically I've been pushing the bounds as far as I could, and seem to be constantly sweating, but have got out and about a fair bit, I've probably halved the weight I put threw the stick and am walking far better than I was.

Last night was a bit of a first, after walking about 5 miles that afternoon and getting home I removed the leg brace about 400 yds from home and walked the last bit without it, ok a bit wobbly, but managed it.

decided to go across London tomorrow morning and hopefully get the bike out of mothballs over the course of the weekend.

I'm under no illusions and the concept of normal has gone out the window, but it definitely feels like I'm on my way back.

Next goal after that is a return to work!

Cheers Mark.
