Update time again, and it's all good.

I've ditched the leg brace and managed since Saturday without it, first thing in the morning it's a fair bit wobbley, but I'm hopeful that'll get better with time.

Walking, well generally I'm trying to do it properly and have impressed Emma this morning with my efforts so can't be bad, still takes a good amount of effort mind, but once again another thing requiring practise, although when tired it's somewhat less perfect.

todays Physio session was mostly to do with balance and to be honest "needs to do better" comes to mind, but I've got homework, so will aim at getting a gold star next week when I go back.

But the Big news, I'm back on the bike!

Got it out Saturday,a short ride for new boots and pads, then a ride across London Sunday, gear changes are still painful and I'm not moving in the saddle at all, but push myself back 4-6 inches in the saddle and I can keep the knee at 90 degrees bend and for the first time in 18 months find some comfort on a bike ( something I was doubtful of at one point), the hard work I put in on the muscle front has paid off, as I'm able to hold the bike on the bad leg better than I could last year, hopefully I won't be dropping it this time , all a bit limited for now and keeping it within 50 mile at a time, just over 150 miles so far, but that's not really the point, just having the bike out side and knowing I can use it when I like is a great boast.

So still improvements to be made, and my riding nowhere near where it was, but I'm well pleased with where I've managed to this point.

Cheers Mark.

I forgot to mention last night: the first time we stopped for fags you got off on the wrong side like I'm used to you doing, but I noticed a couple of other times you getting on the right side and I was really surprised and happy for you!

Yeah I do that, forget and only remember when the foots down, just have to take care really, as I said it's all practise.

Cheer Mark.

Whoops

Well got told off today by lovely Emma (My physio), I had to "fess up" as I wasn't able to do alot of the things I'd prevoiusly been doing, apparently 200+ mile rides (read 5 hours worth of beating with a tenderising mallet) will strain the tendons (although having to do nothing on Wednesday* and thurday because of the pain, was perhaps a clue).

Seems I've a little internal inflamation, Emma has halved my exersises for the next week or so, she was quite annoyed (my knee), but I was basically told that the extra effort wouldn't make recovery any quicker, in fact could well slow things down.

So it's a bit of a slow down for a while, hopefully shouldn't make to much difference, just no more long rides and perhaps a bit more sitting.

So who's for going into the middle of London tonight and standing around for 3-4 hours then

* couldn't miss a pint with goood company now could I.

Cheers Mark.

Thank you, just looked back over the last few entries on here, doing much better on the bike and managed a couple of hundred miles Sunday without to much pain payback, stamina is still a big issue and I still get very tired very quickly, so a way to go on that one.

Seen my consultant yesterday, and he is amazed at how far I've come already, but did warn big improvements were all probably done with now and any further would be slow and steady over the next year or so, basically not to expect to much, I go back in 6 months time, which I take to mean, he's happy.

Spoke to occupational health today, so hopefully work will get back to me on Thursday with a return to work plan, just one more step towards normality.

Cheers Mark.
