I doubt you`d be able to ride a bike properly in that kind of footwear... you wouldn`t be able to change gear.

Please don`t be offended but I honestly think you`re gonna have to face the fact that the SV is just not the bike for you. I truthfully don`t see how you can lower it enough to be able to ride it safely. I think you`ve exhausted the list of approved methods of lowering and surely doing anything else to the bike is gonna be dangerous and also you have to think will it be marketable after you`ve finished altering this, altering that and cutting a bit of here?

I think that by persisting witht he SV you`re just gonna put yourself at risk of really hurting yourself and I honestly think you need to cut your losses and look at a lower bike that you can ride comfortably but more importantly safely.

You're going round and round and round in circles. Just go and ride the bl**dy thing and stop looking for excuses to avoid riding it.

Sorry if these are harsh words, you just keep posting the same thing over and over again...

Yes i remember you saying that, but i had the brought the bike and i wanted to try everything i could!

I don't know any other bike thats as light and that would go as low!

A lot of people say get a cruiser but i can't touch the floor on them or even get them off the side stand there so bloody heavy!!

intruder 125 was the only bike i was truely happy with but, i can't get about on a 125!!!

Thing is, if the OP was confident then only being able to get one foot down or the ball of one foot, wouldnt be a problem, but shes not and this is where the issue of wanting to get the bike as low as possible to enable both feet flat down comes into play.

Liz has put 40K on her SV, wihch she bought from new and has never ever been able to get both feet flat down on, she can manage the ball of one foot and thats it, its never stopped her riding either the SV or the Ducati.

The problem here isnt the bike, the problem is a confidence issue. Which wont get solved by fiddling with the suspension, changing bikes or anything else.

But we've been over and over this issue and we keep coming back to the same set of issues.

Again apologies for the plain speaking...

+1. With it being a confidence issue, I'm sorry, but I don't perceive some comments in this thread as helping.

I agree it`s a confidence issue but I think the main problem is Ruth`s height. As I`ve said previously she`s 8 inches shorter than me and my SV is lowered as much as an SV can physically be lowered.

With respect I think Ruth could be the most confident rider in the country but at her height I fail to see how she can even be getting the ball of one foot down! Again I`ve already previously said that the seat height of a lowered SV is 30 inches. Ruth`s leg are 25 inches so please tell me how she can make her foot stretch the 5 inches required in order to get even her tip toes down?

Claire, I was sure I read this before, so I went looking...

I managed ok...

... i got there i couldn't go in the garage to get a spanner coz there was no stand, so i managaed to hold the bike up on one foot, whilst using my mobile ( i was stainary) to call me dad to come out and help, as i couldn't take both hand of the bars!

So i think i did pretty well!

But the main thing is now i can put me feet down thanks the foot peg raisers, no more bruised legs!

Perfect as it can get, obviously would prefer more foot on the floor, but that just isn't do-able not if don't want my rear tyre shredding and the exhaust catching the floor and chucking me off!
From those posts, it seems to me like Ruth has had dogbones especially made for height, and has checked clearance issues etc, and can get her foot down.

Ruth, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong in any of the assumptions there.

I dont know, which is why I said in a previous thread that I thought she'd bought the wrong bike... I'm conscious though that this discussion might be doing more damage to the orginal posters already low confidence levels...

I really think going somewhere quiet and practising junctions would help build up confidence and also somebody local to her that is experienced in bike setup and SV's to give the bike a 2nd glance over would also be helpful and re-assuring to.

IMHO theres not obstacle that you can't overcome, and sometimes you do just have to work with what you've got.

As a final thought, this is Liz sat on her trail bike, feet nowhere near the ground either on em and she's quite happy riding it like that...

I understand about the confidence issue. It isn't the whole biking thing I was extremly confident on the intruder 125, just wasn't fast enough!

I must admit this bike feels to big for me, but like i said when i was researching the SV came out as the best bike for shorties and light aswell!
