Not sure if its already been suggested but what about the SV400?

Seat Height: 785 mm (30.9 inches)
Dry Weight: 167 kg (368.2 pounds)

As compared to the 650:-

Seat Height: 805 mm (31.7 inches)
Dry Weight: 169 kg (372.6 pounds)

Wouldn't you have been beter off with say a Ducati Monster? The 696 weighs less than an SV and has a lower stock seat height of 770mm vs the SV at 800. Or does the SV lend itself to being significantly lowered? Apologies if I'm missing a very obvious point here, other than the fact that you've actually bought an SV obviously.

You said this before, I never understood last time when you came out with this. Madness IMHO.

The bike isnt suited to you, you have confidence problems, but you just keep blindly ploughing forward on a path that I dont think will ever lead you to true biking happyness. Theres a bike out there somewhere thats perfect for you, yet you're to bloody stubborn to look at a different course of action.

I bet you a shiny english pound coin, your dad would see you safely ride a different bike than modify your SV into oblivion and still not be able to safely manage it.

Forget about a SV400, its not a proper UK model and certian parts are harder to source if broken, prolly wont get much discount as its an import bike.

I looked but could not see if you had a lowered seat or not, its a better option than lowering the bike as that affects handling and ground clearance.

Speak to Samnooshka or Kate as as far as i remember they had the lowest SVs on the forum.

You also get used to dealing with bikes on tip toes, a freinds TLS puts me on tip toes but i have no problem riding it, just used to not stopping at werid angles.

Could get a VFR400 they are low and fun, bit old though and need fair bit of maintinance if you dont get a good nick one

Only issues are that its a grey import (at least I dont think there was an official UK SV400), and as such parts may be an issue to source here in the UK.

As said above stick with what you have, if I can ride an SV (and some will claim thats me lying :P) then I think you can too.

Monsters are significantly more expensive to buy and from my observations of the ones I have know, significantly more expensive to keep on the road.

Itallians may do fine wines, pastas and the like, but electricity is Black Magic over there.....................

Crashing happens to the best of us. Don't worry, after a while you'll want to be back on the bike...

As said by others, expect to come off. Make the most of it, look back, laugh, learn and move on.

Not going to look through 18 pages so have to ask. Have you scooped out the seat? that takes about 2 inches off the height.
