Ok ok ok, folks, think everyone has said everything possible to Ruth about this now, both helpful and unhelpful, perhaps, its time to let her go away and decide what do for herself.

As for the people complaining that they have become exhausted with Ruth's endless posts - if that is the way you feel then why bother indulging her and replying to this thread?

Ruth, you need to go away and decide whether u want to continue on the SV, get another bike you are more comfortable with or give up all together. No one on here can make the decision for you.

I agree with MBK, after reading all of this thread i think thats one of the best things ive heard - & i dont even own a bike!
Having a few peoples opinions may help but at the end of the day its your bike and no one else will be riding it.

There's a common misunderstanding that the SV is a girl's bike thinking it might be low well it's not. It's incredibly light and that makes up for not being able to put your feet flat on the floor, it's a v easy to ride bike etc etc. I must say I was surprised myself how tall it was and I don't consider myself to be that short but yeah short (29 inside leg).

I always find it reassuring to talk to real-life people (not the ones on forums) esp guys who are short too and it doesn't become easier or go away at all even when you've been riding for 20 odd years so those bikers tell me. We keep on thinking/hoping that they would make lower bikes in future. And we are limited to the kind of bike we can ride. The problem is much more serious and common than you might think (in real life).

Riding on tippy toes is not something I would ever consider, it's not safe or comfortable, you naturally want your feet flat on the floor, failing that something near it is something you're after.

I would consider selling if I were you and think seriously what you want to get next. Maybe even get a 125 for a year while you do your research very very thoroughly.
