I've taken to mounting one of those Churchill Dogs on my fairing, that way I never miss a nod. Sometimes when I'm feeling especially friendly i'll give a mexican wave, that really suprises some riders.

I always nod to bikers including coppers, but not chavvy scooter types. Low down peace sign seems to be all the rage in France. I do find that BMW riders never return a nod...guess it must be some sort of snob thing : )

I used to nod, till I realised that nodding in a black arai with a black visor is probably not all that noticable So I wave, or do this big mad sideways headwaving thing that probably makes me look like an idiot.

Except for scooters, proper retro scooters, who for some reason I've always given a big exagerrated salute. I started out riding with a mate who had a Vespa PX125, and we both did it. I really have no idea why, but they seem to like it.

Just do what comes naturally

Yeah- anyone on 2 wheels (not always scoots, but more often than not). Anyone with the balls to ride a 2 wheel motor vehicle deserves respect.

Unless I'm concentrating on the ride...!

Yeah- I've noticed that couriers only very rarely respond. Anyone know why?

99% of the time I'll nod the oncoming biker. The only time I dont do it is when I'm busy concentrating. I used to nod to other bikers on my scooter too, some would nod back, some wouldnt. I think wearing my alpinestars leather jacket, decent gloves and alpinestars boots on the scoot made some people think "hey, he aint too bad!" Needless to say, I get alot more nods now on the SV than I used to on the scooter

If its an SV, I'll give a hearty thumbs up!
