Just use the bolt it's easier I promise! Also the top bolt from an SRAD750 is about right... Try phone some other dealers who aren't complete f###ing tards. Or I think someone on here will know the part number!

You can buy helicoil kits from various places, a local garage probably fits them too.

I imagine if you took it to a garage and asked them to heli-coil it for the a bolt they would be able to do it, just ring around a few, its only a 10 minute job. You just need the right tools and I didn't.

I'd like to thank you all (and in particular dyziowg) for asking and then answering all of the questions that I had about doing this. I am soon to be the proud owner of a ZX10R shock, so I shall be ham (and cheese and probably a shade of pickle) fistedly be fitting it...

dyziowg, if you ever find the Kwak dealer who will sell you a bolt without selling you the rest of the bike, then drop me a line and let me know who they are?

Smashing.

Now will someone please go and do something about the weather?

Cheers
EY

Glad to be of service
Imagine, I did find a dealer Email these guys http://cradleykawasaki.co.uk/ and tell them you're looking for a 10x55 bolt and nut to fit a zx shock to an sv
L6,80 posted, they take paypal.

I just used the bolt that came with the shock for one end and the bolt form the SV original shock for the other. I forget which way around. But I certainly didn't have to get anything special for it.

The Kawasaki part number for the M10 62mm bolt for the 03-04 zx6r is: 92151-1601

the nut is: 92210-1139

The 05-06 zx6r seems to have a shorter 55mm bolt (but uses the same nut): 92153-0663

I got the above Kawasaki part numbers from the online microfiches at http://www.ronayers.com/ it's a really useful site for looking up part numbers! It also has a reverse lookup thing that lets you see what other bikes share the same part, quite cool I reckon!

http://www.bikebandit.com/ also has online microfiches, but it doesn't list the manufacturer's part numbers.

Hopefully I'll be getting an '05 zx6r shock on sunday for my sv.

Well, a few days on & I have to admit that after a bit of faffing about with the settings, this is a vast improvement on stock, I'm well impressed. I just need to do a few more tweaks & this thing will be virtually perfect.

So have you fitted it yet? Is the bolt OK?

My '05 ZX10R shock has now arrived so spannering abound.

I had a look at the job this afternoon. From what I can tell (and measure) it looks like the Kwak shock is the same width at the top as the SV, and the bottom 'fork' of the shock has the same external width, but a wider internal width so I'll need a couple of spacers in there. Does this fit with what you've found?

Also, is the 55mm bolt exactly the right length - I'm a bit worried about clearance? Have you put it in the opposite direction (ie entered right to left) to the stock SV?

Cheers!

Ey

Haven't measured anything but I haven't noticed anything when fitting.
bolt fits perfectly, no cutting needed.
You'll fall in love with your sv again afterwards
