You should have load of clearance to get a huge shock in there, sounds all very odd to me.... though maybe not as I had my subframe off when I fitted mine. Maybe removing the whole suspension linkage would help.

copper grease all the dogbones up as all the bushes had no grease on mine after 6000 miles.

My GSXR shock went on but it took a lot of butchering the battery box. Paddock stand to get the rear wheel out and axle stands under the rear sets to hold it up. Should all be very accessible.

That shock looks Identical to the shock I put in my curvy, it was a Showa unit from a ZX636 C1H, works well.

Just to clarify here you do NOT want to use copperslip in the bearings! Clean them up with parrafin or petrol and a rag, then work in a good high melting point grease untill they're as packed as possible. You can clean up the inner race with a little scotchbrite. A little copperslip on the threads of the bolt is all you need so it'll come off next time.

Take your pick. I've always copperslipped them, never had one come loose, they won't if torqued up.

YC, how much of the battery box do you have to cut to fit it? the whole bottom part and rest the battery on the reservoir?

Sitting the battery on the reservoir isn't a good idea. I had to trim the base of the box and part of the LHS of it. Make some little spacers to sit the battery on, then chuck the fusebox tray at a passing chav.

made my own undertray and battery box from 18 gauge steel sheet and welded it into the subframe.

Shocks good with hagon springs and 15w up front, had to back of both compression and rebound damping. Still not got it 100%, just needs a bit more fiddling!
