Installing on front fairing does not leave enough (good) space / clearance for the accessory plugged in...
Mine was absolutely fine, done about 3000 miles with no problems whatsoever, never even vibrated out once.
I like it so much, i done exactly the same thing on my sprint when i bought that.

Just thinking, if you're going to cut the plug off the sat nav and change it for the twist lock type - beware - i think the sat nav plugs have some sort of resistor in the plug which the twist fit plugs don't, which can damage the sat nav.

No they dont, a lot have a step down transformer, tom toms are 5v, so when i mentioned this about twist locks i didnt know this.
Not a problem anyway cos its has never vibrated loose ever.

I am genuinely surprised that the Sprint 1050 doesn't have a socket fitted as standard as it is a standard fitment on the 955i. Appreciating the choice is yours but as you have wired it so that it is only live when the ignition is on does this mean you can't use it to plug in a battery charger?.
The 955i has a similar socket fitted just behind the nearside fairing panel but it is wired/fused direct to the battery so I can plug my Accumate in every time I garage the bike with no hassle. Considering the trouble removing and replacing the seat on the 1050 for access to the battery I would have thought a fused wiring direct to the battery a better option.

DT, 1050 sprints do have a factory 12v socket behind the lh fairing, it's one of them silly small ones, I use that to charge stuff when off the bike, but the Tom Tom cable won't reach to that and it's a pain to use.
