That was a good write up. I'm a big fan of Hinckley Triumphs, I owned a Daytyona 955i SE until January this year and might be buying a Sprint ST in 2009.

That'll be the showroom, which is used to display the range of bikes and clothing to prospective dealerships and anyone else intending to do business with the company.

The reason they don't sell from their own showroom is that Triumph have an established dealer network to take care of sales. If they started selling bikes out of the factory they'd very quickly lose their dealer network as the dealers would see it as the factory robbing them of sales, which wouldn't be much use to those people who don't live within striking distnce of Hinckley. If I was MD of a Triumph dealership and I found out they'd been supplying local retail buyers with bikes, I'd tell them to stick their franchise where the sun doesn't shine. The only people who can buy bikes direct from the factory are Triumph employees.

The factory make the bikes, the dealer network sells them. You can't walk up to the Toyota factory in Derby and buy a car, they'll just point you in the direction of the nearest Toyota dealer to your home.

Sorry - I didn't mean the bikes or accessories, but there were loads of different tee shirts - some were quite cool, you'd have thought that they could have had a few of them on sale as a souvenir - interesting to see they had one with a big Castrol badge on it - especially when they are supposed to be in bed with Mobil ... No Mobil stuff anywhere ?

I would certainly have no hesitation saying that the bikes are very well designed and the assembly of them is of a very high standard indeed, and if I were in the market for a Triumph, would feel very reassured with regards to standards of manufacture.

Thanks for a great write-up and also the rec on Triumph's build standards.

I'm very pleased with the STriple and cannot praise it enough, although some owners on the ST Forum have noted a few niggles, but not enough to slag it off

Hope to get on a factory tour in the future
