got my black ones from v2mal's website IIRC they were about £35 posted plus the free v2 sponge.

They can do, but you'll need a lot of track time. At California Superbike School all of their leathers are shot at the knee. Not an issue for us mere mortals.

I've used Stompgrips and Snakeskins and they both do a good job. Despite having the tank in my living room and spending about an hour on each side I still had a few bubbles when fitting the stompgrips. I've had slight wearing of my leathers but nothing too worrying.
