They're called stomp grips. You get them on ebay

I read into it a fair bit and according to the internetz (so pinch of salt time) stomp grip were generally rated better. I bought some and like them. I posted a discount code a bit ago for 10% off and a free sponge from v2mal.

My 2p..

I have used stomp grip on all my bikes and am very happy with it. If you take your time applying it, and do it properly, then it'll last for ages. The 675 guys really love slapping this stuff called Techspecs on their bikes. I have only had a look at this stuff, but I don't think it would be as affective as stomp grip under heavy braking (track for example). However it's another alternative to consider, I guess.

Common complaints about Stomp Grip seems to be:

-You get ugly air bubbles
-It falls of easily
-It ruins your leathers!??

The first 2 aren't a problem if you fit it properly! Not sure about wearing away the leather at the knee - I have never seen anything like that! If some little rubber knobs can wear away you leathers, then they must be pretty sh!te as imagine what sliding down the road in the would do! I think it's just hearsay (i.e complete b*llocks )

Cheers
Luke

I found luke's common complaints off putting when I was shopping but haven't had any of the above problems, I possibly started a thread on mine or chipped in on Quiff's one - think someone kindly (possibly speedplay) instructed the best way of applying them. I took my time doing them cleaned and degreased the tank and warmed it up with a hairdryer and picked the stompgrips up off a warm radiator (where they'd been for a bit) and inched them on really carefully.

Yup, it was me

I've had had no problems with mine.

As already said, make sure the tank is really clean, then clean it some more.
Heat up the stomp grip till you can just about hold onto it and then apply it.
Run a pen lid or similar between the knobblies to get all the air out and leave the bike for at least 24 hours.

I have had no lifting, bubbles and no problems with my leathers either

Thanks again then! it worked a treat (apart from on one side when as I went to plant it on the electrics blew and I was plunged into darkness so with the help of my phone light got it on on the second attempt ....that said no problems with either side as of yet)
