Sweet Jesus...

I bought some of this stuff for my bike:

Dont know whether it'll do the job - but after seeing these very graphic images of this poor baby; at least I know where to spray this wonder syrup in her nether regions!

Good stuff, that.

It's mainly a repair job now, the engine's going to have to come out so as we can treat the underside of it for corrosion, as its well manky. Then it'll need re-lacquering.

First it needs a front-end putting back on.

Once more into the breach anyway, I'm off down the garage to rebuild the brakes.

Holy crud!

I say this as someone that goes 10 months without cleaning a bike. I have never seen that much rust on an SV. Anyone would have told you which parts were steel and which were alloy, storing it in a salt water tank was not entirely necessary.

Best of luck with the rebuild!

Rear caliper pins, or the bolts refuse to move, despite filling the little cavity behind the bolt with penetrant oil for a week.

Lovely.

If you like shiny, and you have a bit of a budget, aerocoat's chrome powdercoat is pretty fantastic.
Polishing is a very pretty form of erosion/corrosion (think about it). I tend to avoid weight reduction using this method.

Indeed Dave is still being pampered. We found the carbs arms were knackered on it , tis why it wouldn't run right at the AR. It got a damn good wash and polish last week, only to be ruined the day after, but it got a good blast with Fs365 afterwards, it'll probably get yet another wash tomorrow. Thing is its easier to clean a claen bike than a rusty manky one, because you know where to begin...I only hope that Suze will be half as nice lookin as Dave when she's finished, so she'll be easier to do.

chris went to put the new shock on today only to find that after nearly a year of being stored under the bed, that, its the wrong one. Luckily Wemoto have been nice enough to admit they probably didn't notice, have ordered another from Hagon and will get the courier to send it straight to me and pick the other one up at the same time. fingers crossed......i wasn't best happy.

Pics of my scrubbed front sub coming up, not so rusty now, but off to powdercoaters next week, along with the rear one and the spare I picked up, just in case they bead blast holes in it

Fingers crossed Suze will be making an appearance at the AR this year
