Hey Lance,
The svbits site could use some specs for the max draw per circuit and total for the gizmo. Just put mine in yesterday.

i was thinking that but to be honest if you maxed it out your bike would burst into flames... lol

the main battery feed is rated at 25a continuous the relay is rated at 30a and each line is rated at 16.5a continuous. TBH even the 16.5a for accessory's is mega.

the whole unit is 25a into 3 outputs so in reality it's 8.3a per output.

it's designed for accessory's and not power hungry things like HID or power horns which need a direct connection to the battery for power. this is why i designed the powerbox.

anyway i suppose it might help if i do put some figures in.

Bib, it doesn't take a lot to draw 8 amps @ 12vdc mate as I'm sure you know already, it's only something like 100 watts, not a lot at all.

Might be worth considering testing this for amp draw with three typical accessories connected.

I doubt you'd have 3 accessories all drawing that much, as he says it's not meant for horns and HID kits.

just had a look at the Gerbing site and added all their clothing that a rider could wear and it all comes out to under 15a

items:
heated jacket, heated trousers, heated gloves, heated socks and i added for good measure the insoles as well.

so all the above takes one line as each line has the capability of taking 16.5a. this leaves 8.5a to be divided by the other two lines so lets say you add heated grips which is around 5a this would leave 3.5a for a sat nav or phone.

an extra 25a continuous is a lot of current to draw from your charging system and i would not recommend that anyone do so.

i suppose the big problem would be adding all that gear on a pillion as well which would indeed over load the gizmo.

it's rather complicated to explain to people that there is different ratings for each line and this all has to be divided by the main line. the gizmo is supplied with 3 x 5a fuses which is more than safe. i use good quality British made thin wall cable so will be rated correctly.

my website is not for general public use and it solely for members of this forum where information like this thread is readily available for members.

Gerbing has a nice little calculator http://gerbing.com/MyAmps/

Also in the application, the way the cable is routed can affect its effeciency too, hot cable is not good.

As long as people are warned about max ratings, shouldn't be a problem.

The thinwall cable (if you get it where I think you do) is pretty pessimistic in it's ratings anyway, it's good stuff.

Basically this gizmo is leagues ahead of the stock wiring if you are drawing any power at all and if you manage to overload it you'll be having a session of bat flattery quite quickly...

thanks Chris. your assumptions would more than likely be correct

i think i'll do a little chart later on and stick that on the site.

even if you just made the kit
